The Blues won the first two meetings by 20 points, taking the series with a decisive 26-6 victory in Game 2 having already won the opener 32-12 on the road.

Now, the series will conclude in Newcastle with the Blues heavy favourites to once again prove too strong for their Queensland rivals.

However, Blues coach John Strange has warned his team to not fall into the trap of simply believing that will happen, especially with pride on the line for the Maroons.

“We’ve spoken about that as soon as we got back into camp. It’s about us and putting a really good performance out there on the field,” Strange said.

“We want to be better every game we play.

“There’s not really any extra motivation or anything like that. We just want to keep improving and they have got that attitude.”

The Blues have named an unchanged team for the third time in the series but the same is not true for the injury-hit Maroosn, who are without star fullback Tamika Upton (hip).

Hayley Maddick debuts in her place, while lock forward Keilee Joseph is also unavailable which sees skipper Ali Brigginshaw shift to lock and Lauren Brown move from hooker to halfback.

Destiny Brill is the new starting No.9 for the Maroons, with Georgia Hannaway joining the bench in her Origin debut.
